Default p650 problem

my speedometer reads 0 all the time and quad will not switch into 4wd, everything else on the multimeter works fine and the engine seems to run fine. my thoughts are the speed sensor is bad. any suggestions?
also, is a special tool required to install the black spring, or can it be done without? i saw the procedure on nyroc's site, but i was hoping it could be done with a clamp or an extra set of hand. how much time is involved?

1) Take it in.

2) I've heard someone say they used an old rotor to push down on the spring. I can't imagine this went all that smooth and had to require 2 people. With the threaded rod, 2 nuts, 2 washers, and the end cap you can do it yourself without worry or much expense.

It'll take you longer the first time as you get familiar with everything. Once you get it down then it shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes, to do a shim job, with cleanup. Although, I never timed myself. I am usually doing 3 other things while working in the garage.

Welcome to the forum.

The speed sensor would be my first thought. Without input from the sensor the bike wouldn't engage 4wd. I damaged one early in my 650's life and had the same results, no 4wd and no readout on the speedo.

Its 5 bucks worth of parts for somthing you need every time you adjust your belt. I.E. you need it for regular maintance anyhow .
