The 650 Prairie has alot of electronics on it ( more than just the speedo ) ...they all seem to be very water resistant ( proof )... if you're going to do an abnormal amount of deep water riding, you'll get the belt wet before the speedo anyway... it wouldn't hurt to pull apart as many of your connectors as you can & put a little dielectric grease on the contacts... if you're going to treat it like a submarine... I've only heard of a few people that have had problems with the actual speedo... as an old Jeep mudder, I've always been a bit paronoid of the electronics, however my Prairie has functioned very well over the 2 years I've had it... If I were to build up a quad for mud / water use specifically, I probably would look for a machine with as little electronics as possible ( old school ) perhaps a basic, probably a few years old ( not the top of the line, with all the gadgets ) Yamaha, or Honda ETC. Hope this helps... Have A GREAT Day !!!!! WAM
