Default P650 poll - everyone please look!

Alltoys replied to a guy's question on another topic that he removed the check valve and extended the vent hose up under the seat. He said it stopped the overfueling problem completely. However, he did say it takes the fuel pump longer to fil the carbs, but no big deal.
I would be temped to tell people to extend that hose up to the handlebars where the other breather hoses are if they ride mud much.

Never had a problem. No fuel smell. I ALWAYS shut off the fuel if I llet it sit for more than 5 min. (left over habit from owning dozens of 2-stroke dirtbikes, I guess!)
PartsMan2-- R U riding with Bart this weekend? I'll be over around the DingessRum Trails(H/M).

Looked at the vent line and check valve today; everything is in the open and easy to get at. A very easy mod to do.

I checked, no gas smell. I try to turn it off, if it will be sitting an hour or so, not every time I stop.

Big green has a smell of gas in the oil! She's done it from the factory till now, change the oil every 20 hrs. or so depending on riding conditions. The oil always comes out clean and no shavings of any sort so havent worried about it. Also always turn my fuel valve off. Hope this helps....

My 400 used to stink like gas a good bit, I know its not a 650, but I allways shut off my fuel valve and still had the smell. I found that running the bike for a minute or so after shutting off the valve got rid of the smell in my oil. Maybe the bowl was still full enough to leak it into my engine with the valve off? Maybe transporting would "slosh" the fuel around my carb until it went into my engine? I dont really know, but it stopped when I started running a bit after shutting off the valve. Hope you guys find your problem.

400prairiexlt, I do the same thing when I know i wont be riding it again for a while, I let it run till it dies after I shut off the gas. Small amounts of gas in the carb will go bad quicker than a whole tank.
