v-force hp?
#2
I dont have the owners manual here but towords the front it has a max torque @5500 rpm number which can be converted to HP. This is NOT the max hp, just the hp at a given rpm which comes out to 41.5 (if I rememeber) So I would say something between 43 - 48 but I doubt 50 like some magazines have reported. Other things like elevation etc make a difference too. Also the clutch can absorb some power so at the wheels you get a little less.
Reagarding the prairie, I dont use utilities, but I bet the 700 will take the cake compared to other brands.

Guys, we are getting numbers all over the place here. I personally believe the V is putting out more than 40 horses but I have no technical specs to prove it. When I was shopping for my son a quad last week I had the salesman give me some HP numbers on some various quads I was familier with. I watched him go to the file cabinet and pull the specs on each quad below. Here are the numbers for comparison purposes.....and someone tell that 12 year old Yamaha kid to stay off our thread!
Honda 250EX= 16 hp
Honda 300EX= 22 hp
Honda Recon 250= 15 hp
Honda Rancher 350= 20 hp
Honda Foreman 450= 23 hp
KFX400/Z400=36hp
Kawi Prarie 650=42 hp
So.....if the P650 is putting out 42 hp......what is the our V700's really putting out?

The Polaris Predator is supposed to be putting 42 to the rear wheels, so I'm sure even a de-tuned 700 twin is at least equalling that. Sorry to bust your bubble kid, but a 700 twin is a better motor than anything Yamaha produces.

I will tell ya what kid i will bet you 50 to 1 odds that a 600+lb sport utility could smoke a 450 yz or a raptor your choice... Yes i am talking about a prairie.... not my prairie, alltoys prairie that is pushing 65 hp at the crank at 9000 rpms. Oh and if you just wanna wait a little while i will go get a cdi and spank you butt myself!
Bottom line don't come on to the kawi forums saying that yamaha rules and they will tear automatics up. You like yamaha's we like kawi's....... have a little respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The HP numbers I stated for the Prairie 650 & VForce 700 were DYNO test results at the Wheels, not at the crank.
Yes, the Prairie 650 is 42HP at the crank & the Vforce is 49.1HP at the crankshaft.
Prairie 650 = 31.4HP
Quest 650 = 30.5HP
Polaris 700 = 30.2HP
Grizz 660 = 29.8HP
As quoted in ATV magazine Dyno test results, at the wheels.
The DYNO test results on the VForce was 38.6HP at the rear wheels, was quoted on one of the on-line test reports that I read awhile back.
