Default YEEEE HAAAA I pick up my 700 Prairie in the morning!First ride reports!

Just checked buykawasaki myself, and unless I'm way out to lunch, part #'s are the same (and parts look the same) for the 700 and the '03 650. Clutches look a bit different from '02 to'03 on the 650, but the later '03 650 is the same clutch as the 700. Belt is the same for all, unfortunately, so is the CDI. I could be wrong, but thats how it looked to me.

Yeah, the belts are the same for the P700 and the V700, guess I got my parts mixed up. Good correction there muddin650.

I went and checked the CDI part numbers again. I found it interesting that the CDI boxes are different on the 02 P650 than the 03 P650. You are right though, the 03 P650 and the P700 have the same CDI boxes. Also, with the larger belt on the P700 it should be faster on top end than a P650.

Here is a break down of what I found.

2002 P650

Belt # is 59011-1080
CDI # is 21119-1598

2003 P650

Belt # is 59011-1080
CDI # is 21119-0004

2003 P700

Belt # is 59011-0003
CDI # is 21119-0004

2004 V700

Belt # is 59011-0003
CDI # is 21119-1629

I also notice that a change in drive and driven converters was done from the early 03 P650 and the late 03 P650.

I never bothered to try and find out but what is the difference in the 2002 KVF650A1 and the 2002 KVF650B1? What is the difference in the "A1" and the "B1"?

I forget which is which, but one is the california emissions classification. I think the B1 is the Cali one.

Not 100% sure, but I believe my 650(canadian model) is a B1, thats what it says on the back of my owners manual.

589650,
You have it right and the Canadian ones have a plunger on the under side of the carbs where the US ones don't.

Mine says that it's a1 on the manual and the model # and it has the plunger.

The difference between the A1 and the B1 is the A1 is the red or green models and the B1 is the camo model. That's the only difference between the two.
2002 KVF650-A1 red or green color
2002 KVF650-B1 camo color
2003 KVF650-A2 red or green color
2003 KVF650-B2 camo color
2004 KVF700-A1 red or green color
2004 KVF700-B1 camo color
