I was really suprised by all the repsonses to this post... the CVT filter is very easy to make & maintain, But remember that keeping the belt cool is a main objective...I personally don't believe that normal dry clay / dirt dust is very hard on the sheeves, clutches or the belt, this is why I chose a very open foam as my filter media ( to stop sand, rocks, seeds etc. )... putting anything finer, or not servicing the CVT filter often will certainly shorten belt life, as it will reduce the amount of cooling air to the CVT... if there's anything more I can help you guys with in this area, let me know... I'll be installing a filter & listing the parts needed on a stock '03 Prairie soon... I'd like to start making ( or have made ) some of my equipment designs, for sale in the future, but being a true ATV enthusiast, I'd need the time to thoughly field test each component before it would ever come to that... Have A Good One ... WAM
by the way, I know my designs / concepts are still sound, as I just took 1st place in the mud bog race from he!!, in the open class... time to "transform" it back into a Hare Scramble racer again...
