Default Please, wear a helmet!

Spent all last night at the hospital, my son, trying out our new pulling motor, went end for end on a rail road bed at a high rate of speed.

We found him 5 minutes after it happened. He looked like someone had taken a grinder and when all over his body. All he had left on for clothes were his socks and underware, the rest were ripped almost completely off.

If he had been wearing a helmet he probably would'nt have substained the head enjuries he has. Although he will be alright, he could have easily been killed. It's not worth the chance, PLEASE wear a helmet no matter how short your ride is going to be.

I've been on the fence about wearing a helmet on an ATV for a while, last night I fell off.

Helmet have always been mandatory on snowmobiles in our family, now they are on ATV's.

The same time we were at the hospital, there was a 14 yr old kid there with a broken leg from an ATV accident. The game warden got to talk to both of us at the same time, saved the state some money.

Thanks for the replys.

My wife had a bad roll over in April that cracked her helmet. Thank God it wasn't her head.

Shotgun,

Glad to here your son was OK! Must have been quite scarey! I usually wear my helmet all the time. Around the house I don't but know I think I will. I am always telling my children to wear there helmets even when riding there scooters and bikes. I should wear mine to show them it is the safe why to be.

The state of PA just passed a law about motorcycle riders don't have to wear a helmet on the streets. That is pretty stupid if you ask me. There are to many other car drivers to worry about when riding a bike. A helmet is your safest bet!!!!

Thanks for the reminder, and glad to hear your son is going to be o.k......

Which reminded me of how weird the laws in New Mexico can be regarding helmets......

There is no "helmet law" in New Mexico.......But, if you forget to put on your seatbelt, you'll get fined over 50 bucks!......

That never made sense to me?......It seems the helmet would be more important, considering I've got airbags between me and the dash!......
