Went for a good ride yesterday with a couple of buddies. My one buddy was riding an old (86) Bayou 300 4x4. He started up a hill (thats a story all in it's self), and part way up he heard a loud pop and his wheeler stopped. He then couldn't get it out of gear for a while. After a few minutes he got it out of gear and got it started. But then it wouldn't shift into gear. The lever would move but it was like the tranny wasn't even there. We got him rolling down the hill and he kept shifting it and when it got to where 5th should of been it was making a ticking sound, while he was rolling down the hill at bout 25mph.
Well we started to tow him the 30 miles back home and about 4 miles into it the dang thing started working again and we drove home. Has anyone every heard of this, let alone know what happened? He was ready to take it to the junkyard and now it's working again.
