4x4 flashing
#1
Once agian i need help i replaced my clutch on the prairie and know the 2wd and4wd light are flashing back and forth. I truned on the switch while i had the cover of and cranked up the 650 to see how the new cluth was going to be and now this is what i get. I unhooked the battrie and alos tried unplugging the fuse. The only thing the fuse did was stop it while unpluged. This has happened before but i can't remember what i did to it to fix it. This is a 02 model not a 03 model that has to be reset.

the flashing lights indicate a failure of the KEBC actuator motor or stuck lever/pivot on the inside of the clutch cover. Check to see if the levers/pivot busing are clean and lubed as well as look for a blown KEBC fuse.

I took the cap off the kebc motor and rotated it a little and put the cap back on . Then tapped it with a screwdriver and the motor reset itself i guess it was hung up or something, but everything is ok now thanks for the help!!!

Glad to see your KEBC motor problem is fixed. I have heard about more than a few cases of this motor not turning or getting bound up. I don't know if it is the motor or the linkage it drives that is at fault. When you look inside the clutch / converter cover and see the linkage, it appears that all the dust (dirt) and rubber dust collect on the grease of the KEBC linkage. I would recommend cleaning and re-lubing the linkage and roller bushing every time the cover is pulled just to keep it all moving smoothly.
When my motor froze up, I had the additional symptom of the KEBC levers holding pressure on the drive clutch just like it does when the braking is actuated. This caused the clutch to hook up at Idle and you could not stop with the quad in gear. If the motor froze at some partial point in the cycle as mine did, you can wear out the actuating arms and bearing if not repaired. It is very easy to remove the three phillips screws on the cover and rotate the motor even while out on the trail. I would have done this while I was on the trail, but did not know what the problem was until I returned from my ride and trouble shot.
