My buddy just bought an 87 mojave off of his friend for 500 bucks. The kickstarter is stripped. the shaft and the lever are all there. there is just no force when kicking it down. i think the gear is stripped. anyone know how much a pain in the *** this will be to fix? and where can i buy the internals for the kickstarter?

I just got my 87 mojave back together. I had to replace the reverse gear which meshes with the kickstart gear. It was not too bad of a job. just pull the cover, remove the clutch assembly and the kickstart gears will be wide open. Just a couple snap rings and you can have them off. If the problem is further in than this you are going beyond what I had to do. I got the best price for the parts from
www.cycle-parts.com. they have a $100 mininum order. Go to the kawasaki parts site to get part number for the best price (www.buykawasaki.com). With the gaskets and gear it is about $75 so you would need to see if you need anything else to make the min.
