I heard on one of the forums that the P700 belt is the same belt as the p650's. If so then you will want to keep it tight. EPI makes the black spring for the p650. You may want to email them and find out if it will work.

The answer to your question is YES, it will make your belt last longer. The down side is: lowered topspeed. Not much though. I am told about 2 mph. I put the EPI springs in, but haven't tested them. I installed the black driven, and pink drive.
I have a "blue" Dalton(drive) spring to test also. Most of my work is done in the Appalachian mtns., fast trail riding.

Default black spring for P700

Tommyboy,
I called the Kawasaki customer service number earlier this summer and I was told the P700 belt (same as the VF700 belt) is supposed to be made of better/more durable materials than the P650 belt. Also, the P700 belt is supposedly a bit wider than the P650 belt. Kaw. told me the two belts are completely interchangeable and thus, anyone with a P650 should be able to install a P700 belt.

I recently bought a P700 belt from ronayers (for approx $116 plus shipping) and I'm now waiting on it to be delivered. Some people have reported slightly faster top-speeds on the P650 when using a wider belt (from P700 or P360), while other folks have reported no gain at all using these belts. I can't wait to install it and see for myself. I'll post the results when I finish testing it.

Umm, Im seeing a lot of info in here that may not be true. I will answer the questions in order. First of all I know for a fact the P700 belt is NOT the same as the P650. IT IS the same as the V700. Check out www.buykawasaki.com for the part numbers if you dont believe me.

Second, the black spring may or may not make you loose top speed. I have asked a number of guys this with mixed results. Saying that it is true I think would be false. I know I have not lost any top speed with the black spring.

This is all i have to say about the spring.
