650 V twin gearing and belt
Ok, I am the only one hear that seems to feel the 650 is more than fast enough, but what I would love is to be able to gear it DOWN. Is there anyway to do this? I really dont care if it will only go 45, but love to play in the mud and rock crawl. Also can I put a V700 or P700 belt on my 02???
Thanks all!!

I do that now but it is still geared a bit high. I would love to be able to get my current low range to be my "high" range then have an ultra low (awesome for the rocks!!) But thanks for thinking!!! Now for that heavy duty belt idea. I just wish they made this bike with a 5 speed!!!

You have a similiar setup to mine and I noticed you ride about the same elevation. How do you like that high altitude clutch kit. Dealer says that it does wonders ...
Also what jetting do you have for that altitude. Like I said I have a similiar setup and I am running 142f/138r...just dropped it from 145/142....that is with the NYROC muffler mod, twinair filter, DG snorkel. Any feedback here would be appreciated...thanks

You can put a 700 belt on the 02 650. The 360 belt may gear it down a little, since it is wider and longer it may start off higher in the secondary. Also, keep the belt tight and it will have a lower takeoff ratio.
25" tires also help reduce the gear ratio. That might not be what you want for mud.

The High Altitude clutch kit adds more low end torque for us P650 owners who ride at the higher elevations. If you ride in the 0 to 6000 ft elevation, then I wouldn't bother with the H/A clutch kit. Now if you ride all the time in the range of 6500 to 13,000ft +, then you may want to look into this kit. By having the H/A clutch kit installed on the P650, you will not feel any overwhimming more power but the added torque right at the let-go & throughout the lower-end power range is a added plus. The H/A Clutch kit consist of lighter ramp weights & 2 spring spacers for the '03 650, I think the '02 650 only uses one spring spacer. The parts shouldn't be more than $120 & if you have a service repair manual on the P650, you should be able to do it yourself.
I am using the Kawasaki jetting & am at the 4900-8200 ft jetting, which is 132F & 138R, ride anywhere from 6500 to 13,120 ft & this P650 runs perfect. Even at 13,140 ft just a few weeks ago in Colorado, I had no power problems at all, I still could pop a wheelie in low range & at 12,000 ft.
I tried the jetting for 8200-11,500 ft. but the P650 was very hard to start with those jets, 130f & 132r & the plugs were not burning the correct color. Now that I dropped down to my present jetting, I am 100% happy with the way this 650 runs.
I too am using the Twin-air filter, DG Snorkel but No exhaust mods, as I like the sound of the stock muffler.
