Default New P700 only running 62mph! Any suggestions?

I have a new P700 with 5 hrs. I was running it yesterday down a long straight-away and decided to top it out. The speedomiter only read 62. To say the least, I was dissappointed. It should atleast hit mid-high 60's.

Any suggestions on what it could be? Anybody have problems with their speedomiter's?

Way to break her in Jeff!!!

Don't worry about it. The speedo's aren't very accurate. The most I have ever seen on mine was 64/65. That was before the big tires. Who knows how fast I was really going.

The pipe arrived today. It should only take an hour or so to install. Let me know if you want to line them up later.

WOULDN'T GET MY HOPES UP FOR HIGH 60'S, MOST OF THESE MACHINES ARE SO DETUNED THAT ANYTHING OVER 60 IS DOING PRETTY GOOD, MY 650 STOCK WAS TOPPING OUT ABOUT 64, NOW WITH LARGER TIRES AND TONS OF USE, IT TOPS OUT ABOUT 58. JUST BE SATISFIED FOR 62 IN OTHER WORDS, AND KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THE UNLIMITER HERE IN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS, THAT SHOULD OPEN YOUR PRAIRIE UP A LITTLE BIT ON TOP END.

GOOD LUCK, AND KEEP CHECKING YOUR TOP END BECAUSE AS YOU BREAK IT IN IT WILL INCREASE A LITTLE BIT, BASICALLY IT JUST NEEDS TO STRETCH OUT FIRST BEFORE RUNNING ANY SPRINTS.

62 is all I can get on gravel also. I haven't opened it up on pavement yet.

Like others have said, don't expect much over that without proper modification.

Yesterday I was VERY pleased to see 70 mph on my speedometer. It was on pavement running downhill, but I was still happy.

Shucks....only 62 mph!! Damn thats slow.

Why is it that no one is ever satisfied with their top speed, its not like you travel at that top speed alot maybe 5% of the time. Most of the time you travel at 30-50 mph the thing is you want acceleration, that is what you should be concerned about.

I guess it's like that military slogan,"Be all that you can be". I just don't like the fact that our machine's are NOT running what they are more than capable of...There is power inside these engine's that can't come out because the factory saw fit to restrict them probably 30-40%....yes I don't do anywhere near 67 mph on any trail, but if the timing retard is causing the 650/700's to lose power and slow down on top then they are doing it elsewhere in the powerband too, just not as severe but still "restricted".....I pay X amount of money for a machine, then I want that machine to perform to it's absolute potential while stock and not going to aftermarket bore kit's,cam's,etc.....and our machines are not performing as they were designed to because of these "legal enforced" restricter's...We are just "settling" for the fair output they are providing, and I have found that when I settle for less than what I could have, I am never happy, give us the DG unlimiter and let me see what this machine was engineered to perform at, and I will be satisfied, if it only 2-3 mph more, at least i'll know it isn't held back then........

Grab a GPS or get a cop friend to radar you, those are the only two ways you will get your top speed within reason. Do not use a car or truck driving beside you and all speedos on quads are horribly out of whack.
