Yes, it crawled into the CVT inlet vent or outlet vent. Those little guys can squeeze through things like CVT fan vanes.

I am not sure what effect a mouse would have on belt squeal, but I think it would cause squeal rather than reduce it. Blood belt dressing? Fur belt dressing? Probably would cause the belt to slip, at least right after the faint squeaking sound.

Otherwise, if it didn't just lay there dead I imagine the belt would chew it up and the airflow would blow bits of mouse out.

Yeah, the same way they got into the intake of my buddys 03 Sportsman, once there, the whole family clogged up the airflow and it wouldnt run right, After a day of riding the not so powerfull bike, it got to smelling really bad. they chewed up his air filter, some wires, and all the foam stuff around there. I would be looking the bike over really good, they like to eat insulation and stuff......

When I first moved out to the country,I put my Wolverine and my son's quad (an LT80 back then) in an old wooden shed by the woods. Between moving and work, they sat without running for over a week, then I took them out to wash up before riding. As soon as the Wolverine started, mice ran out from under it, so I checked it out, mouse poop every where, pulled the air box cover, it was almost full of seeds and nest !!! The kid's quad had a nest on the battery, and some foam chewed out from under the seat. After that, until I had a garage put up, they sat outside under a tarp. Little furry bast-ards !!!!

Do you like squirrels?

Try this recipe....

Squirrel and Scrambled Eggs

1 or 2 frisky squirrels
6 eggs
1 large frying pan with lid

Put squirrels in the frying pan, crack eggs over their heads (very
tricky). Cover frying pan, firmly attach lid. Cook on stove top,
squirrels will scramble the eggs. When all is quiet in side the
frying pan, open lid and enjoy.
