Prairie & Supertrapp
#1
Does anyone out there have a 650 Prairie with the IDSX or IDSX 2 exhaust from Supertrapp? If so, how does it do? Does is it do more damage than good to the Prairie's already kick-@$$ powerband and awesome torque, or does it actually improve it? What's it do for the sound of the machine? If you've had a good experience with this exhaust system on your Prairie, what is the number of discs you usually run in it for the best power? How long can you go before you must replace the packing?

I've got the IDS-X and like it. Good power gains, not loud (but sounds much better than stock). The kit came with 12 discs, I put them all in for maximum flow. I've heard they can be a bear to re-pack, but don't know from experience. I called Supertrapp, they said that I should be able to go 2-3 years w/o repacking. The only problem I had was that the headpipe from the front cylinder was too short and I had to do some welding to extend it. Best price - Rocky Mountain ATV. I believe Kiss of Death had the old style Supertrapp on a Kodiak and hated it; lots of problems.

I have the IDSX on my P650. I like it, it souds better than stock and runs better than stock. however I think the K n N filter did more for power than the pipe. I don't know if this the right or not but with the mods I think I leaned it out to the point it runs a little hot at times so I run 100+ octane fuel antd it run cool and very strong.

I also run the IDSX. Power increase was marginal and only noticeable in the lower part of midrange. I got a much better boost when I modded the intake. Love the sound! Running twelve discs and have cut it down to 8 which improved low end power but killed the top end so I left it at twelve. I haven't tried it with out the end diffuser (straight through). Cost was 262 plus shipping. Install was straightforward and everything fit well.
