Reds,
You mention above that one of your mods was to move the postion of the stock cams to retard the timing 10 degrees. I believe this mod is the same position that the V Force cams come stock. That being the case, does this mod result in moving much of the power band from the low-end to mid-range? If not, what kind of improvement does this mod do for the P650?

Any comments would be appreciated!

The two machines that reds650 has modified (his own and one other) are now the local drag race kings. If your sport/utility ATV isn't running nitrous, you had better leave it on the trailer.

mikey, retarding the cams dosen't really move the power band (because of the CVT) it just makes better power everywhere. The potential of that little engine is there. I built one this summer, same as Reds's but with ported heads and a little more compression, made 42rwhp and ran 5.9 secs in 300ft, just did another this week with 45.76rwhp.

no useable power is lost at all
ray porting seams to be worth 4-6rwhp
but mine is not ported
it's the same as the v-force cams

Ray, or anyone, what type of porting is being done - a simple port/intake/exhaust blending or something more complicated? (After I get reds650 to do my valve timing, I may break out the Dremel,LOL).
