HLV700,
I thought you were talking about the GNCC race at Gilmer, TX to be held Jan 31st - Feb 2nd. I am thinking about racing at Gilmer on my P650, but I'm not sure which class to ride in (Novice, First Year, Utility modified or Vet (30+ years old)?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which class is best to run if I own a slightly modified P650 and I am new to GNCC racing?

MIKEY... I'd go in there with an open mind, & look things over 1st... I usually race in the utility class ( there is only one, around here ), the one time that I did race in the Vetrans class, I found out that it wasn't quad specific, & the guy next to me was riding a Suzuki Z 400... I was riding my wifes full time 4 X 4 - 300 Prairie ( while I was getting the 750 cc kit installed ) ... I did take 2nd, but out of 3 quads in the senior class, & of course I didn't beat the Z...

look to see how many are in each class, & try to judge your extreme level of riding... even though I'm an old man, I still like to race with the best of the young guys... if you're too slow, pull over & let them pass... to me, getting 5th or 6th in the biggest fastest class, means more to me, that getting a 1st place trophy or plaque, in a beginer or senior class, that only had 1 or 2 quads in it ...

Utility Modified would be your best bet. You will be the only 4x4 in any of the other classes. The Utility Modified is a smaller class, plus you get to go out about 4th or 5th, right in front of the big classes that have about 50 atv's in each class. Also you will be racing atv's like your's, P650, P700, SP700, Grizz, and Rincons, so no sport quads. You will have a blast.

Higlifter,

If you wouldn't mind, when you get back from Kistachie let me know how it is. We had plans to go down there the day after Thanksgiving but it was closed due to rain. What I'd like to know is: can you get around down there without 4wd? Or does it require a submarine?
