My friends P700 had the same symptoms after only 30 miles (those miles included some mudding but nothing it couldnt get itself out of). It turned out that mud got in the motor, but I dont know how... The airbox was clean. Anyway, it screwed up everything: crank, bearing, rods, rings. Had to get totally rebuilt but after some arguing Kawasaki covered it. A Kaw rep told him on the phone that approaching water or mud "deeper than the center of the axle" was too deep. Maybe I should have just bought hip boots, it's cheaper. Has me a little paranoid about mine...

he and i do some serious mudding w/ ours. he has 28" mudzillas and i got rid of the badlands tires that come on the new 04.5 sportsmans and bought some used rawhides for like 150... he has about 420 miles on it an has had a problem with oil in the airbox b4 and the oil plug came loose after his first service because the dealer did not tighten the plug up enuf. we had been riding for about 3 hours through mud and hard pact trails and then it happend and we didn't know what was wrong .. but i believe it is probably anitfreeze leakin into the engine. I keep on busting his ***** that he should have bought a polaris. i've got 250 miles on mine and not a sinlge problem. but you know.. its everyones opinion on what they want. and i keep raggin on him about the solid rear axel too. we were goin through some ruts and i was infront of him and i looked back and he was stuck w/ 28" mudzillas. i had the 25" rawhides. i went back and got behind him and saw his rear diff sittiing in the mud and the rear wheels were not touching the mud at all and i pushed him the rest of the way through.. this is the 2nd time i've had to tow his prairie back to the truck and cut our ride short.. damn kawi... J/K thanks for the info guys

This also happend to my buddies 02 650. We took it back to the dealer since it had under a 100 miles. After inspecting it they came up with the conclusion that we had haulled it with the pet **** in on position and flooded the oil with gas. We have always towed it in off position since (1600miles) and never came up with this problem again.
