Low gear trouble 650 Prarie
#1
Anyone else have any trouble with low gear making a terrible rattling like you just lost it?
Well it took me a few days and 150 dollars to nail it down. I had to take it in, I may be able to save you a trip.

OK !~ok! stop teasing us , i havent had a low range for a year now . not that a 650 needs it but it could come in handy for hauling out stuck trucks. tell us the story, in fact make it a readers digest version, i am all ears.

I had low gear trouble and found that my front motor mount had egg shapped. I tried to tighten the bolt up but it wouldnt tighten up against the motor. I removed the nut and the factory bolt was a little too long. I added a washer and tightened the !!!! out of it. Then I adjusted the shifter and it was ok. My motor was moving just enough to pull it out of low gear.

Shifter adjustment, yes it was just out by a hair or two and that was all it took. According to my tech when it's in neutral it should be like 1cm away from the plastic guide. Not in my case it needed to be right on the guide. I had the guide off from there a week earlier and may have moved it, never the less the linkage came just to the outside limit. The linkage works much like a tie rod, loosening the lock nut allows you to move in one way or the other. Good luck
