big horsepower gains for P-700
Hey all,
I am looking to increase my horsepower for my P700 and I have a few questions. I spoke to the folks at highlifter and they have a few items that I was un-aware of. The first thing they said to do is to re-jet my bike to get 5 extra ponies immediately without the addidtion of a pipe. Then they said that have one of their ignitions that will give another 5 hp. That's alot of hp for little money. I think the jet kit is $60.00 and the ignition is $110.00. Has anyone here tried either one of these items and if so, what was the difference in hp? Would I be better buying a pipe and re-jetting?
I saw that HMF has a slip on pipe for $230.00 that increases 4 hp and an entire exhaust for $470.00 that increases 7hp. They both require you to re-jet the carbs.
I have heard that the Twin air filters work well, any feedback on them? Any performance gains? Did anyone need to re-jet just for adding the filter? Thanks for all of your help guys,
Clint

I went with the HMF slip on, (loud but in a good way~lol) Changed jetting (re jetting is very easy to do on the 700P carbs.) Twin Air Filter, On the Air box lid I used Thunder Products TPI Valve. It lets you open and close it depending on conditions your riding in. Some feel a few holes on the top of the lid is safe and will do the same as far as letting in more air in but you get a good false scents of security with the TPI Valves~lol. Not sure of the HP gains, But I can tell the difference BIG TIME! Ive also been playing around with changing clutch springs and put on the EPI Pink, but it didn't seem much different? Any feed back on Clutch Springs welcome? If I was to start over? I would at least open the air box up a bit and change jetting I might even go back and forth on exhaust depending on where I ride Becuase The HMF is loud. ~Chris

I started out with the HMF slip-on & was happy with the results. Just recently I upgraded to the "full" system. BIG differance. If I had it to do all over again, the full system is the only way to go. Combine the exhaust with snorkle, TwinAir & 145/148 jets & you will be haulin azz.

Jet kits are more than just jets. They usually include a new needle and needle spring too. The new needle is usually more tapered than the stock needle for better mid-range boost and the spring is usually less stiff to allow the needle to come up out of the needle jet a lot quicker for better throttle response.
