Prairie700~~~Defect??P700 Owner's Read! and Check!
I reposted this thread because I feel its VERY important and my Accident could have been much worse after checking out my Quad again this morning! ALL Prairie 700 owners Should look into this ASAP!!!
??Could be a freak Accident?? Something for EVERYONE owning an 04 Prairie 700 to check on!! I went on my usual every two week ride to Pa. this weekend. About 70 miles into the Trip, My Left front Tire folded in right under me! Luckily! Because of my handle bars turning in a little before, I was able to slow down to 20mph or so when the wheel folded in and the quad flipped forward.. I was also wearing Helmet and Gear, so when I went on my little flying adventure I was protected, Little shaken and stiff But I'll be ok?? After examining The Quad It looks like the A-Arm bolt either snapped or came losse and fell out? What ever happen? the bolt was gone causing the front of the arm to snap off!! Trashing the Front diff. Shock, Plastic and almost me!! Ive always felt I was good about going over the Quad before each trip making sure most bolts are tight and Quad is Ready! Ive never had this happen on ANY Ouad Ive owned?? Hopfully Kawasaki will handle the warranty? Ive never done one. Any feedback and experance with Kawasaki warranty? anybody know anybody? and info please feel free to share? I just wanted to pass this along what happen this weekend and what might be a defect? and something for everyone to check on?? ~Chris

Prairie700~~~Defect??P700 Owner's Read! and Check!
I'm 6'2 and weigh 240lbs, And can be Hard on Quads. BUT On this NEW P700 Ive Never Jumped or Raced it and have only riden it less then a dozen times. Ive never Raced before and wanted to try my hand at the GNCC this year down in Florida, (Wanted to See if I could hang with Penland and the Gang!) And you know a Mans gotta have a dream!~lol) SO Ive taken Special Care of this Quad! Beleave me After EVERY weekend Trip its been broke down, Removing ALL Plastic and Skid Plates Making sure its cleaned to a T and Most ALL bolts are check, Oil Is changed etc. Tell you how **** Ive been on this Quad~lol. Quad has under 700 Miles and the Oil AND filter have been changed 3 times using Amsoil$$ and this week would have been its 4th! Air Filter changed to Twin Air after 1st Ride and cleaned and oiled after every Trip didnt matter if it needed it or not! Beleave me I take care of My stuff, and Know some Riders that have NEVER even taken there Plastc off or Checked anything! ~Thats the Kicker! Ive broke Stuff from being rough But Have NEVER had this Happen and That why its very importent to share.. I hope it was just a freak Accident?? But ALL Prairie 700 owers should get a wrench and check not only the A-Arm bolts but ALL! ~Chris

So you've never raced it, but are planning to race gncc??? Wow!
Yeah I'll be checking mine tonight and will plan on regular checks.
It could be porosity in the metal, a defect. BUt who really knows. I'd look closely at the broken piece and see if I could detect any defects...

I can vouch for Prairiewrench's statement!! Crazy (and fun) jumps and no problems like that!
As far as Kawi warranty...I had a lemon p360 and had some experience with hoping to get the warranty to cover it...go to your dealer first, they will be your main source of help. Hopefully they are a good dealer and will take care of you. If not, the next person to go to (in my experience), is the regional sales rep for that region, he got more done for me than the letters to Kawasaki did, they didn't do a thing. The dealer was great and did everything as warranty work, and the regional got me an extended warranty free. Now, I will say that I had some VERY uncommon problems (according to other p360 owners) and every situation is different. It all depends on the situation, but start with your dealer and work up the ladder.

Thanks for the feedback!! like I've said, I've been ruff on Stuff before, BUT this is just one of those things that seem more like a defect then My Big Old bad Self being too aggressive~lol. It really looks to me like the bolt wasn't torked down or had any kind of lock tight from the factory?, The end nut is welded to the frame and the threads seem to be fine? I can turn the front bolt by hand. So Im thinking the bolt just came loose and fell out wile I was riding. I was well into 70 miles of mixed terrain before this happen and that was plenty of time for it to fall out. Its just a good thing I didn't have the hammer dropped all the way when this happen there were many of times during the ride when I did, And at 50 mph plus in tight rocky woods trails wouldn't have been pretty! Dropping down from 30 to 20 or so in some what open area was much easier to handle went I went on my solo flight. Cant stress how important it is to wear a helmet and gear!!! Just DBL Check guys and let me know>? I will fill you in on my Kawasaki warrantee experience after I talk to the Dealer Etc. ~Chris
