Default 02 P650 Rear Axle Breakage - Recall Notice

Just got a warning and recall notice today in the mail for rear axle breakage. Says some of the 02 P650's rear axles were improperly heat treated and could fatigue quicker and break. Take to dealer right away.

Is this old news or is there something to it?

Default 02 P650 Rear Axle Breakage - Recall Notice

Very old news: I bought my 650 in June 2001, replaced the axle under the recall in August 2001.

How would you go about finding out about this Recall or any other Recalls for that matter?? I am very interested because I do alot of different terrain riding and would hate to have a bad spill because of defective gear..
Cheers!!

If you are the original owner then you would have gotten a notice in the mail. If you're still not sure, contact the dealer. There were only a total of 70 machines affected in North America.

I am the 3rd owner of my bike. I filled out the change of ownership card (the 2nd owner didn't do that) and got the recall notice about a month later along with an updated owner card.

The information on the notice: KVF650A1 ATV01-03
Engine #
Frame #
VIN #

Kawasaki toll free # for questions 8:30 - 4:45 PT Mon - Fri: 866-802-9381
