rate on the prairie 360 4x4

Hey Woodsrunner, I have to disagree with you on the displacement. You will not lose displacement by going to a higher compression piston. Displacement is determined by the length of the stroke multiplied by the diameter of the bore, and nothing else. A higher compression piston will only reduce the area in the combustion chamber resulting in a higher cylinder pressure.

They rate the 04 360 in Februarys ATV Action Magazine. They rate it as being an overall good machine. I recently bought an 04 360. It seems to be a good quad. My nephew has a Rubicon 500. The 360 is not nearly as quick as it, but it is not terribly slow either. But being that I paid $4,400 out the door and they paid approx $6,500, I feel that I got more bang for the buck.

Star,
I hope they put a link for that article out there, as I'm interested in what the ATV press has to say about it. Most of the articles I've read, and that was allot during my final decision to buy, were very positive about the 360.

The article was very positive and makes some good points. At the very begining it states that a few years ago the Prairie 360 would have been considered huge and it still is huge. But in a relative standpoint compared to other ATVs being made it is small. But it says it is an excellent atv. Their only complaint which was minor was that they said the engine vibrates a little too much. But that was really there only complaint. If you have a fax, I can fax you the article on Monday.

my wife has the 2000 Prairie 300 4x4 , and I have rode it up
just about every hill my brother and friends rode up on
their 250ex and 400ex with little or no problems..
I think the 360 would be a good choice

I have both. I like the 360 and it has been a pretty good bike. I have taken it up the side of a cinder butte and it did not stop pulling. I had some problems with the top end of the engine and the dealer had to replace the whole thing after about 12 hours. I like the ride and my 120 lb daughter realy likes how it steers. fun to ride but i would rate it a 6 out of 10 because of the problems I had and the lack of power. The dealer has adjusted my belt once at about 50 hours and I had to do it again at about 98. I have 900 miles on it so far.
The Outlander has been an impressive bike. It's pretty fast off of the line and picks up good all the way to about 55. My 360 tops out at 42. I have been very pleased with it and have had no mechanical problems at all. It always starts right up and stays running no matter what the temp. I wish I could say that about the 360.
I have had both quads out on the dunes and the Outlander kicks butt on the 360
If you are buying one or the other get the Outlander.

The 360 I have has nothing but problems mainly with the clutch belt screams all the time we had to buy a 2 year extended warranty on it .Kawasaki is by far the worst built machine I have ever seen.
