I picked up my IMS fuel tank today. Looks pretty simple but I figured it wouldn't hurt to check with you guys and see if there is anything I should know before I install it on my V-Force. Thanks!

This is a totally piece of cake, straightforward install. Just make sure the vent is open on the tank and closed on the cap.

Thanks for the info. Yeh, I noticed they gave me another gas cap with this tank that has the vent hole closed off (actually "melted" closed). The tank is built like a brick out house. All attachment points on the tank have threaded brass inserts molded into the tank itself.....nice stuff.

I have mine ready to install. My buddy just did his, and said it was a pretty straight forward swap. Did yours have all kinds of plastic shavings and dirt in it too?

Yep, mine had a black gritty substance coating the entire inside of the tank. I guess from the manufacturing process. Only reason I noticed it was because I was impressed at how shiny and smooth the inside of the tank was when I looked down through where the fuel lines go. Like a kid you know I had to reach in there and "feel" it.

with the bigger tank do you get a longer pick up to reach the extra gas? how does that work?

You don't need a longer pickup tube. I ran a hose into a gas can and ran the bike until it ran out of gas and it pumped out 4.6 gallons. I only wish I was paying attention to when the low fuel light came on but I didn't.
