Well, I just hit 107 hours yesterday on my 2003 P650 and still the belt light has not come on. I've read about them not coming on until 101 or 102 hours, but at 107 miles I'm starting to wonder if this light is actually working correctly. Anyone here ever experienced their belt light never coming on?

Can't tell from your sig... but I assume it's an '03 or '04... the '02's didn't have the check belt feature...

 

I had the same thoughts Wheelcow, it took so long to come on, I had forgotten about it. Mine didnt come on until 112 hours. But when it did, it was the normal 100 hour service. I checked my deflection, reset my light,and it's run fine ever since. Just keep your eye on it, cause you dont want to be out in the boonies after dark, freezing your a$$ off, when it comes on.

 

I know nothing about the electronics on the 03 as I ride an 02 but just as a thought. What if you do the reset procedure anyway? If you go ahead with this procedure there's a chance you could avoid having the thing catch you at a bad time. Like I say, I know nothing about it but has anyone tried it?

WheelCow, maybe you can try it and make a new discovery. I fail to see where it could hurt anything but it is your ride and not mine.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I'd hoped that when this light came on to install the black spring and install a P700 belt (regardless of the condition of my current belt) and reset the light on my 2003 P650 at the same time. I wanted this to hurry up and happen because as you suggested, I don't want to be out in the middle of nowhere and have it happen. I guess I'll keep on riding it a while longer. If nothing happens, I guess I'll go ahead and put on the new belt and spring. That way, if the light does come on, I'll know the belt is fine.

when my light came on it justed flashed until i turned the machine off then it went itno retarded mode

 

I'm confused. Will it still run even though the light came on?? I know if it comes on you should take it in pretty quick, I just don't want to be out in the woods and it comes on and it won't work anymore. thanks

when you turn the machine on the next time it will go into retarded mode (that is what mine did) if you have a late '03 model i think the light just blinks and it doesnt go into retarded mode, i have an early '03 model

 

retarded mode? and will the vforce do the same?

 

Mines a '04 360 prarie just would like to know before it happens.
