i go 2 to 3 times a year for the past 4 years, its unreal how many different trails you can ride if you get lucky and hook up with some locals they have alot of trails that are not on the hatfield mccoy list. i also like the idea of when you get their you park your trucks and never even have to move them until you are ready to leave, they let you ride on the roads were ever you need togo. they are also alot of friendly people there. if you get a chance togo try toget some one to take you to the trading post or to the wagon wheel, they are just a few of the local spots to ride and meet other riders ( I LOVE THE STAIR STEPS ).

Prarie650, it is well worth the drive from anywhere in the country (if you stay long enough so you at least spend more time trail riding than you do on the to / from drive). Your Prairie 650 is an excellent machine for mounting an assault on those trails. You can get a 1 day permit for $19.08, a 7 day permit for $37.10 or an annual permit for $79.50 (good for one calendar year from when you made the purchase). Residents of WV can get annual permits for a mere $26.50! The riding is superb and each trailhead presents you with a multitude of trails of various challenge levels (from easy to very difficult). The trails are mapped, rated and well marked.
I’ve met many local riders down there that have offered to take me on trails off of the system where you can ride for free, but so far I haven’t taken them up on their offer simply because I want to purchase permits and ride the H/M trails to show support for the state of WV for providing such a wonderful place to ride. I’ve been down a bunch of times over the last 3 years and am going down again in April, this time with a group of newbies that I’ve hooked up with on the forum. Gee if I only had a 3 hour drive like you do then I’d probably be there a couple of weekends a month! BTW the latest info I’ve received indicate a 5th trail head will be opened some time in March, bringing the number of Hatfield McCoy trail miles to over 500!!…
