Go to the command prompt - start > run enter "cmd" and click ok on win 2000 or better machines
This will open a command prompt
Type ipconfig and press enter
This should return the TCP/IP info
If you have nothing try entering ipconfig /renew and check to see if it came up
Let me know if this works. Win 98 & 95 have something similar but its a little different and I forgot the syntax...

k i did that and i got
connection-spicific DNS suffix
ip adress

so it seems to be recogniseing it but just when i type in a website on either computer (the 2 that are connected) it will just show this page can not be displayed.. like i said i resetted every thing and i can even acess my router setup but just no internet wtfs wrong!

I assume there was something for each of those items. If so you are connected. Try going to the command promt and typing "ipconfig /flushdns" and pressing enter to see if that clears it up. After that i'm not much use if i'm not sitting there...

I can't think of anything else to try. You could go to the command prompt and try "ping qwest.net" and if the request doesn't timeout then you have a connection to the internet so it has something to do with the browser/internet if you the request times out it is the connection. By the way you can't ping all sites as it maybe prevented for security.

just tryed it nothing.. its wierd the router seems to connect to an ip but wont let me use the internet.. the connection is fine.. im running from the modem right now but i need to use the router.. i think this started when i think i accidentially flashed the router (holding down the reset button)

Try powering down everything, computer, router, and modem. Then unplug the power from the router and modem.
Wait a few minutes, then plug modem back in. Wait until the lights sync up, then plug in the router, and then turn on the computer.
This has helped reset my system sometimes.
