Default Reverse Override Switch

I did a search and didn't really come up with any ideas about how to override the switch. If it really needs to be there, maybe it would be handy to have an on/off switch instead of a momentary switch. I've been in binds where I needed to take my left hand off but couldn't because I had to hold that button down. I would like to simply bypass it, but if there is a way to rig up another switch if it needs to be there, I would be open to that, too.

I saw that. But let's assume I don't have the funds yet for the new CDI, but I can clip some wires that will bypass the override switch now.

Rebel DS,
The red wire with the white strip is the wire that you want. You should be able to take it apart from the harness without clipping anything. This should fix your problem.

dumb question, but where on the harness does it unclip? I would much rather have a on/off instead of the momentary on that is there. That way I don't have to keep my finger on the button. But until I can figure that out, I want to bypass it.

Rebel DS,
The red wire with white strip is plugs into the CDI on he big port. Unclip the harness from the CDI and you will notice a yellow ratainer inside the clip that simply pops out. Then with a small screwdriver gently pry the plastic tab away from the metal connector. This will allow you to pull the wire out the back of the clip. A flashlight will help you to see down in the plug to see the clip you need to pry away to get the wire out. Then just tape it up and your off. Its only about a five minute job, and really easy, good luck.
