Prairie 700 Hitch
#1
Does anyone know if there is another hitch made for the P700 other than the stock one? I have the stock one, but I would like to get some sort of reciever hitch like on a truck so I can use different hitch lengths for different trailers I pull. Using the stock hitch will not allow me to use most of my trailers, because it puts the trailer crank handle too close to my atv. I tried the bass pro shop one that just uses a bolt through the existing hitch hole, but it moves from side to side when the trailer is attached. Just trying to get info.......thanks.

anything permanent will stick out too far if you cant hook to it now.
I know there are a couple guys that have made some recievers for the 700. Keep an eye on this forum and try the search box at the top of the forum.

The new Cabela's catalog has something called a Hitch Hopper. It looks like it bolts throught the ball hole in the existing hitch, and it has a bar that runs up to the rear end housing and is bolted there. Accepts a 2" hitch bar.
Don't know if this is what you got from Bass Pro or not, but it might be worth checking out.

heres one that me and my grandpa made. theres a metal plate on the underside of the stock hitch to keep it from moving side to side. it has never got hung up on anything either but i take it off for the really hardcore stuff anyway. it dont bend under a load (i have towed full size irragation trailers around a farm for a day with it)

I can e-mail you a picture of my set up, but basically I didn't like the "for sale" reciever hitches being sold, so I had my local fab guy, cut a slit 1/3 of the way through a standard 2" reciever sized square tube, 5 " or so long, so that it would slip over the stock hitch ( so that most of the square tube is above the stock hitch ), & it only sticks out about 2"-3" past & above the stock hitch...then welded it in place on the stock hitch... this set up is much stronger than anything currently sold... I have attachments made for doing ATV pulls, hooking up tow lines, etc... I can pull anhydros tanks around the farm all day with this set up... I also have a longer reciever draw bar made to hook up to my ATV trailer with a tool box, & spare tire on the draw bar ( there wasn't room to hook it on the quad, with the ball in the standard hitch... )
Montana Jacks offers several types of reciever hitch mounts, as they sell alot of reciever type assecories...
