what size of air compressor should i buy?

Campbell Hausfield or however its spelled makes the ones for Wal Mart AND Husky. I bought the Husky because I liked the red one better, no other reason. Its a 5.5 HP 26 gallon, about the biggest 110 you can find. It runs my tools just fine, I have to wait a few minutes when using my engine cleaning wand, but other than that, no problems.
I have heard that the Harbor Freight units are not quite what the ratings say they are and they dont last near as long. But thats just what ive been told. There are instructions somewhere on the internet for adding a reserve tank too.

well guys thanks for all the help. there is a reconditioned belt drive one at homedepot that i might look into. if not then i guess it will have to be an oil less one. i'll just make sure i wear ear plugs when i use it.

I leave mine for weeks at a time without using it, is it better to leave it full of air, or totally empty, or part empty? Whats better for the seals? Thanks!
not trying to steal the thread, just was curious.

I think the most important thing is to drain moisture daily. On my bigger comp. I leave the **** at bottom barely cracked open then turn power on for the day then off when finished with it. Good idea anyway, had a hose blow when gone one day andit ran till I got home.

most of your air tools require a steady 90 psi to run proper. at 80psi you can notice that your impact doesnt have the a$$ it would have at 90psi. in this case bigger is always better and if you can afford it go with the 220 volt compressor. it might cost you more in the long run but you will not regreat it later.
