Default 650 Prairie Drivetrain Clunk

I,m fairly new to 03 Prairie (34hrs) and have a question/problem. When in two wheel drive, high or low makes no difference, when under throttle with rear wheels spinning, after a second or two, a nasty kerchunk noise occurs and the front wheels engage (not sure if they are fully engaged into four, but they do spin). Dealer says this is normal, but I think he is referring to the e-braking noise. This is NOT that noise: even my wife who knows nothing about machines notices it and you can hear it from a distance. Help. I only have a few months left on warranty and know this will cost when it goes. Thanks to all input.

If I'm understanding what you're saying... you should not be spinning ( spinning out ), while the machine is trying to engage 4 wheel drive... it needs to be moving, ( tires rolling ), to engage... if you begin to spin the tires before the quad engages fully into 4 X 4, you WILL brake something... If you are ( not spinning the tires ), but moving, ( which is the proper way to engage 4 wheel drive ), & you here this "CLUNK", that is not normal, & should be checked out at the dealer if it is still under warenty...

Thanks for input, but no I am not trying to engage the 4wd, switch is in two, back tires spin to power out of snow or mud, then kerchunk, and front tires spin, especially, but limited to, when I am turning. I'm thinkin' she's gotta go in.

it almost sounds like you have a short in the electric 4 X 4 system... if you are not attemting to engage 4 wd, & it is engaging it'self ???

That's what I was thinkin'. Just thought there may have been some kinda limited slip deal between rear and front when in 2wd. Even if there was it shouldn't engage like it does. Thanks for the info. I'll post results.
