Default lakota problem??

My 2001 Lakota just started blowing blue smoke very bad. But it still runs great. Checked the plug and it is burning cleaner than ever. Shouldn't the oil be fouling the plug and shouldn't I be losing power if I am burning that much oil. I want to check the compression but my gauge doesn't have the correct adapter. Should I just go ahead and tear the engine down and check the rings? Any suggestions would be great.
