You foolios that are saying the cdi isn't giving enough power do not have your bikes set up right to start with. :-) I have a custom large snorkels and have rejetted to run with that setup. COULD I do those mods without rejetting? Yes, however I'd be lean, especially if I added any other mods, like exhaust or CDI. GIVE IT MORE FUEL if you're giving the engine more capacity to burn it.

Since I've added the CDI, it absolutely rips. The difference is more than a little. Yes starting is easier, but man is it faster. I can sit on the seat, no leaning no pulling, stab the throttle, and flip the bike if I wanted. I think some of you may not be giving the engine enough air/juice to let the CDI do it's thing as mentioned above.

Oooh, sap, a good one! Ok back to reality, no I didn't repeat what was in your post. Your post said you were hoping something would help. I'm telling you what did and does work on my quad and why I think people are having problems. Foolios was a comment made in jest. I can't speak for everyone, but my P650 is already modded to let the V-twin breath a little easier and the Dyna cdi added 3 mph to my top-speed plus I gained 1/2 quad length in 300' as compared to the original DG holeshot. At this point, I need to rejet and test it again to see the full potential from the Dyna cdi...but even if the results don't get any better, I feel like I have already gotten my money's worth (especially considering it is plug and play).

Happy trails...

I agree with the posts above. You won't see the full potential of the CDI unless you allow the engine to breathe better.

I installed the CDI yesterday, and while I don't have any timed drag numbers to throw out, I am impressed with it's performance.

Engine starts faster and idles higher than before. Bottom end seems as good as with the DG module, front end comes right up. Engine seems to rev better/smoother, maybe in my head, but when it hits about 40 mph, I still have enough power to kick the rear end out abit. Someone on a previous post mentioned rolling wheelies at 25 mph, I didn't see that kind of increase, but I am running heavy 27" Gators. I would like to try some atrs just for comparison.

I don't ride for top speed, so I can't tell how many mph I gained, but I ran it up and down the street a few times last night and it was definately hauling some major a$$.

My experience with the Dyna has been great, but my machine is mod'd pretty heavily. I'll post some 100' and 300' runs in a few weeks with the 766cc FST kit installed - need to get through brake in first.

Even without the BB Kit, I could spin all four tires on the asphault in 4x4 and wheelie with the rear tires spinning. Top speed isn't really the domain of the 26" Mudlites, so I'm not sure I'll be exploring that too much.

Peace,

Glad to hear other ppl like it as much as I do and have had similar success. SGT rock, I hear ya on the tires. I didn't test top speed, because to tell the truth going fast on 27" outlaws is a little bit scary! They make mudlites feel like ATR's I'm sure. I can't wait to get my ATR's on and see how the quad runs with some lighter tires. It will wheelie out of control with the outlaws!

I think the CDI is worth the money. I could see a significant increase in power. What I like the best is it is a plug and play. The dg and the High lifter module's are $95 to $116 and you have to cut wiring. I dont like to cut the wiring on stuff. For $130 more you dont have to cut any wires and you get a little more performance than the modules.
I have extended warr and if they see where a module had been installed it might void the warr. Where if you have the CDI you can plug the oem one back in and take it in and no one will ever Know. ALso you get a two year warr
on the CDI.

I found a really big difference, had the Dalton clutch kit installed on Saturday morning and the belt adjusted, then my dealer took it for a spin on the road beside the dealership and was really impressed, not to mention suprised! not a very long stretch of road but he has marks on it to compare performance of machines and at the last mark my 650 was going 9 to 10 km/h faster than his stock 700! I think thats a huge gain myself!

Lightman: The reason my bike wasn't set up with air mods, etc., was because I and others were interested in what effect the cdi alone would have on stock bikes. Also, I had read that a stock 650 was beaten by a 700, then the cdi was installed on the 650 and it won. That was the main reason I expecting more from the cdi with no other mods.

The fellas that worked hard on testing etc., I'm glad I have the new dynatek cdi and appreciate all your efforts. As I said before, just need to get to work now to take full advantage of it.
