All in jest and the spirit of good debate, no offense here, hope none was taken on anyone elses end. I think that those with relatively stock 650s that installed the module and aren't getting the performance they want are lean, as posted.

Shawnzo, as far as perfect jetting is concerned, and plug readings are concerned, there is a wide variety of what people on this forum think is 'ideal'. I have a custom snorkel set also, so it's hard to cross over my settings to a different bike. I went to a larger custom snorkel set(not a hose, or dg snorkel, a real snorkel, i can go in water over my bars...) and run 142/145 jets and screws at 2.5 turns out. My bike doesn't seem to want/need any more on the low speed luckily. It starts easily, no pops, wicked power. Before the cdi, I beat my friends 650 that has a dg module, same snorkels, hmf exhaust, and 145/148. Beauty of proper tuning. Hard to say what will work for each particular setup.

Some folks seem to believe a 4stroke plug should look like a 2 stroke plug...However, most techs will tell you a good burning 4stroke plug is like your car, just barely darker than white and will scare a traditional 2 stroke plug reader who's used to that dark tan coloration of the porcelain. I think its very possible many people here are overrich, if they are talking about black, brown and dark tan plugs.. I could be wrong, but since lubrication is not directly related to air/fuel mixture as it is in a 2stroke, IMO getting the bike to run properly is more crucial than plug readings.

All I can say it that it IS worth the money!. My quad topped out at 69, after my cam redegree to 20* retarded. After installing the CDI, I got up to 71 on the dry lake bed at Yermo, Ca, yesterday. Also, after I degreed my cams, I couldn't wheelie in high range, anymore, now, I can be rolling 10 MPH, nail the throttle, and point it to the sky. If I wasn't careful, it'll flip right over! It never had that much torque, until now! Oh, by the way, I still have the stock jetting.

Lightman,
I certainly agree with you that my recent timed tests of the Dyna cdi vs. DG holeshot did NOT show that the Dyna cdi has a huge advantage in the acceleration from 0 to 300' (0 to 50mph-ish), but I don't think its fair to pass final judgement on the Dyna cdi until I get a chance to rejet my carbs and re-do the tests (or until others also post their timed runs/experiences). Of course, my tests are not necessarily intended to apply to everyone's P650/P700 as many folks have different mods and/or ride in much different elevations/temps/etc. However, I would like to clarify that I ran all of the timed runs within a period of 1 hr and 15 minutes so that there is very little variances between each run.

I'm sure there will be some folks who do not find its worth their money to buy the Dyna cdi over the DG3 plus flywheel key (especially if they never ride over 45 mph) but I think the Dyna cdi is well worth the money for my type of riding (XC racing and fast paced trail riding with friends) that often includes high speed runs where I can really use the added 3 mph on top-end and also use the faster acceleration from 50mph to top-speed that is provided by the Dyna cdi over the DG3 or other modules.

Happy trails...

I tested top speed in low this weekend, still haven't been able to air it out in high, but stock it would do 46 mph in low, with the dyna it would do 50 mph...wish I had tach, I put a EPI black secondary and a Polaris blue/green primary in along with the dyna and it still pulled 49mph.....it pulls harder with this spring combo I really like it better than the stock 700 springs, engagement is between the stock and Dalton plain/white primary, feels like around 1500-1600 rpm engagement, my jetting hasn't needed to be touched also, I live and ride between 1000-3000ft above sea level, on a scale of 1-10 I give the Dyna ignition a solid 9.........

Stakk,
Your low range top-speed improvement with the Dyna cdi is similar to mine. I topped out at 44mph before the new cdi and 47 mph after the new cdi was installed (and yes, it was bouncing off the rev limiter in both cases). I personally do not intend to run it to the red line in low range anymore b/c it sounded a bit harsh on the motor to do that with the new Dyna cdi installed!

Raining on other people's parade is unnecessary, mean spirited, and sounds like sour grapes.

Or WAIT! Maybe this is a cry for help!

First, even though you may have been informed differently, the cdi is not a magic box. Go to the library and check out a couple of books on internal combustion engines. You'll be glad you did. And whoever told you the magic box would double the horsepower, well they were just wrong. Good luck on your journey.

I'm trying to figure out this last Post.
1. Are you trying to bust on Mickey?
2 Are you agreeing with him?

Do you know who he is?

Havinsomefun - come up for some air, Mickey is enjoying himself too much with you down there...

I agree 100% with kawiyowee's last post. I think mickeys post i.e. magic box was a little rude, and inaccurate. The cdi gave me all the gains I was expecting from it, and am totally satisfied. It IS a figurative magic box IMO, simply plugging up in a matter of 30 seconds and giving a SOLID increase in performance... =]

Actually my point was this:
IMO Mickey D. wasnt trying to put down the dyna cdi. It is just all the hype and all the threads about it over the last year or so. Some people really did think it was going to be the one and only mod they would ever have to do and they would have the fastest Prairie around. I just think the post from Mickey was just a little sarcasim, not an insult.
Look at my signature, I bought one also (Dyna). I am very pleased with the performance gain from it. I also know to get the fullest possible effect from it I will have to do some other mods.

And that folks is why we live in America, everyone is entitled to an opionon..................

Once again, I see that some folks are taking this stuff WAY too seriously...after all, its just a hobby. So lighten up everyone, will ya? Can't we have one thread without folks getting bent out of shape b/c Mickey D. or someone else chimes in with a little sarcasm? These threads become less and less enjoyable when folks start talking trash and others get upset. Can't we all just get along?

Happy trails...
