Default I had my P650 and STP700 Dyno tested yesterday

I had a chance to get my P650 and Susuki Twin Peaks dyno tested this weekend. My P650 has a K&N filter, diamond snorkel, and a IDSX pipe. I have stock jets still in the bike and keep hereing about how each of these mod's need to also rejet. I figured since I have not rejeted and did all of these mods I would be running lean. They did a snifter test on the exhaust to check the jetting. the result was, my jeting was fine and if any thing I was a little bit rich not by much though they recomend leaving it like it is.

The STP700 was a littel richer than the P650 and the only mod on it was the K&N filter with stock jetting . I am going to have them recheck it after I get the procircut pipe system and new CDI on it. It check out at 3 HP more than the P650

The HP on the 650 was 43 and 22 at the rear wheels
The HP on the 700 was 45 and 25.23 at the rear wheels

I am not sure what the deal is with the rear wheel ratings but the guy told me it was the type of power train used on these bikes(it realy robbs alot a power from the motor).

I plan to have both of them retest after I get my CDI boxes installed on both of them.

There was a dyno set up down at the little sahara dunes last weekend. complete with an air / fuel ratio test machine that probes the exhaust gas durring the dyno test.

cc1999,
Thanx for the informative post! I look forward to your next set of dyno numbers with the cdi boxes installed.

BTW, how much does it cost to dyno each quad?

Happy trails...

Those are really good numbers. Way more than I thought they would be. What were your A/F numbers?

I am not familar with the what the air fuel #'s are telling me. They gave me a copy of the graph with a #13 as being the target line. the
STP700 was running between 11.5 to 12.5 they said it was little rich even with a k & n filter, however i am planning to put a pipe on it and a CDI.

the p650 was running between 12 and 13 they said that was good with a slite error to the rich side, they said they would not change a thing,

I read on the Jet4Power website that you will make maximum power with a 12.6 to 1 mixture. 15 to 1 for maximum economy.

Thanks Nova, that tells me that even after I change the pipe and CDI's It wil still be in a safe range if I am understanding those numbers right.

If 15 s still safe and a pipe,k&n filter, and a bigger snorkel only change my numbers about 1/2 to a full point and I am still a little rich, at under 13 I will most likely still be safe with the CDI boxes. I will still have them checked but I was afriad I would have to jack with thoses duel carbs. carbs and I don't get along.

UPDATE

Ok I finaly got 15 hrs on it so I took it in to have the first service and get it re-dyno tested now that it has the procircut pipe kit and cdi box on it. the rear wheel HP is now up to 34 and I found out since I was testing both times with my knobby tires on and not there racing slicks that you should always add at least 4 hp to what ever numbers you are producing to get a more true idea of the HP you have My mechanic said I was still in a safe range on jetting as a matter of fact he said I was all but perfect there, its running right at a 14 almost all the way through the test he said I should not tuch it as far as jetting. Its torque nubers were what were realy impressive to my mechanic its putting out about 56lbs of torque and has a top speed on the dyno @ 75.05 mph. I have not tested it for top speed anywere but the dunes and was getting about 63mph by the speedo there. I have always herd and witnessed a time or two with some of the other atv's that I have had in the past that you loose about 10 mph in the sand, and the looser the sand the more you loose. I am pretty pleased with the outcome of all my modds a procircut pipe kit inc. head pipes and a CDI box along with a KN filter (KN was on it durring the first test) I think thats working out to be about a 27% gain in HP for about 850.00 in modds.
