Default Prairie 360 sputtering probs fixed....

I finally figured out my problem with my 03 360. After the bike would get good and hot it would fall on its face when u try to take off for about 5 to 10 seconds and then it cleared up and run fine till you stopped and shut if off. I come to the conclusion it was vapor lock. I wound up getting some Insulated Aluminum HVAC Tape and i lined the whole underneath side of the gas tank up to about an inch above the bottom of the tank on the sides and i insulated the gas line coming from the tank to the carbs. The gas tank is a bear to get back in place easily but it can be done. Yesterday turned out to be the perfect test. 85 degrees and pulled off a good 35 mile ride and no probs at all. Before i did that you couldnt even think of doing half that without it fallin on its face now and then while continuously gradually getting worse. I heard this is how they fixed grizzly's with vapor lock in the past so i tried it on mine. Hope this helps some others out. Kinda makes sense this could happen since there is no protection from the heat from the engine and exhaust on the bottom side of the tank. I mighta had 3 dollars wrapped up in the insulated tape from lowes..

sportbikenut2,

We are running into this problem on ours now. I put a red secondary spring in so the rpms are higher now and its generating more heat. It seems to get really bad on our when the gas level gets below 1/2 then when I fill it up it goes away almost immediatally. So it looks like I will take the spring out and do some insulation work.

Thanks!!!

This is the kind of tip that can keep someone from having to walk home. Thanks sportbikenut2, I'll make your mod on my 360 just as a preventitive measure.
