Default Engine Temp

Has anyone done any in depth testing of the dyna cdi in respect to engine temperature. That is what really interests me in the cdi. Thanks for any replys.

Default Engine Temp

There haven't been any scientific tests that I have seen. A lot of CDI owners have confirmed lower temps (less fan) after running with the new CDI. I have a thermocouple, but I do not have enough time to produce "data" from tests to prove it. If anyone can't take our word for it, then they will just have to run their fan more than the rest or even overheat.

However, we know for a fact that retarded timing increases engine heat. This has been shown to be true from repeated experiences of module owners. The CDI has even better timing through the mid and upper rpms. That can only make it run cooler.

So, if you want it cooler:
-CDI, or at least a holeshot
-Correct Jetting
-50/50 water (not 70/30), or water wetter with 50/50, or engine ice, or 100% water and water wetter.
-Evans NPG+ is better for cooling than engine ice, water wetter, or just plain 50/50.
-Perfectly clean radiator, add a screen to keep mud off the rad if necessary.
-Mud flaps to keep mud spashing on the backside of the rad.
-Heat wrap the front exhaust pipe for 12 to 18" helps a lot too.
-if you have an 02, get an 03 lower rad shroud.
