bocephus01..... with your mods and u still cant even keep up with a stock P700 something must be wrong!. I have a stock P650 with a black spring and dyna cdi, I have 2 friends with stock P700's and my 650 with the cdi and TONS more take off then either P700. in a 300n feet drag i have about 4 quad lenghts on them and im still pulling away. they run neck to neck. p.s im about 100 lbs heaver then them too.

As is always the rule.. theres no replacement for DISPLACEMENT!!
Go for the 700!

Thats a completely different comparison. Here we have the same engine with no major changes besides a 77cc or so displacement increase.
The yfz/raptor angle involves two different designs of engines with different carb setups, different compression, and more. Apples and oranges man, gotta get your concepts straight first.

TOMMYBOY.
I'm with you something must be wrong with his 650, My 650 with the dyna smokes a stock 700 at least 2 quads in 300 feet.
Last weekend I raced a z400 and won. I am still running all stock air filter and no napa hose.

Tommyboy & Havinsomefun...I have to agree also.........Dealer tested, my '03 650 with Dyna CDI and Dalton Clutch kit, was 11 km/h faster (5 or 6 mph) at 300 Feet than the 700....and I'm runnin' 27" Maxxis Mud Bugs, where he was running stockers.

Raced my buddy with the p700 again sat. and now I can get him off the line and pull out to about a 2 bike lead! The bad news is if we race far enough he still passes me as he still has more topend than me. I never thought my old woreout belt was costing me so much performance, now on pavement with only about 1/4 throttle it will flip over if I don't lay over the handlebars.

Bucephus, a new belt is very important. I noticed a lot of difference when I put my P700 belt on a few weeks ago.
brownstr, you would be even faster if you had your stock tires on.
Not only does the P700 have more displacement over the P650 but it has a different belt, primary spring and other clutch parts. Im pretty sure the inner and outer primary sheave is different.
