How do you go about breaking in a new four wheeler motor? Can you just ride it as long as you dont open it up wide open or what? Thanks

some people say ride it as your planning on riding it the whole time you have it (in other words beat it open it up and what not) other say take 'er easy...its all opinion to alot of people...so which ever you think is the best...I remember a site saying why you should ride it hard but dont remember the name of it...I think it was posted in the forums at one time...

It is common practice to stress engines at WOT at the factory. This starts the ring break in process. However, it would be a legal nightmare for manufacturers to recommend new riders break there engines in at WOT wouldn't it?

If you want your rings to seat then you need to load the engine. If you want a weaker engine then baby it.

But, you break yours in how you want. I will warm mine up to operating temp then run it hard.

Here is an interesting read on breaking engines in.
