Default has anyone tried alchohol for performance?

I have an 03 Lakota sport with mods on order. When I did my research on getting the stuff I came across an old forum in which gaff had mentioned using alchy in his machine. I might want to try this sometime and wondered what I would need to know (what kind of alchohol, %, etc.)

I guess U just cant put something too valuable in the tank....
Thanks for the reply Kawasaki.

Also if anyone has any input, I have read the the airbox is very restrictive on the lakota- is there any way I can remedy this?

Methanol alcohol is the racing standard, it makes more RPM torque and power, and it takes twice of much of it, you have use a upper cylinder lube to retard corrosion, you have to use the coldest plug you can get , The 600cc mini sprint guys say they are neting 8 hp. when set up right, hope i helped J.H.

Thx guys for the replys. So it probably isnt really worth trying? If I were to still try it, where could I get methanol and upper cylinder lube?

To make it run right, all jetting should start at 30% larger than you're currently running on gas. That's just a start...then the tuning begins...and it'll change with temp and humidity. And don't forget, as someone already stated...compression! Also remember Methanol is "hydroscopic," it attracts/absorbs moisture. After a days running, drain your tank and carb, and run just a little gas through the carb to be sure all the Methanol is gone...
Running alky isn't just a matter of putting it in your tank....it is a commitment to your machine to do it right, otherwise it'll bite you in the butt!

I dont think that it is practical for my style of riding, I guess I was just thinking it would be fun to juice up the tank a bit every now and then, but I like the idea of low maintenance. I sincerely appreciate all the input from everybody.
