Brute Force Thoughts
#1
Now that the rumor mill appears to be closed I figured I'd drop a few initial thoughts on the Brute Force. I'm sure that many of these items will mean more or less to others....but this is how I feel about it:
Frankly....I'm just not that impressed. I figure I'm seeing a Prairie with a few more CC's, an IRS, and a new paint job. One new feature I was pleased with (on the surface) is the new and considerably larger radiator. I can't help but wonder, however, if the larger radiator will be an actual improvement or will the increased size be eaten by the larger engine's cooling demands.
The IRS? Ehh...this is a toss-up. There are certainly drawbacks to IRS systems. In fact, the argument is solid that there are far more drawbacks than there are with an SRA. On long leisurely rides, these IRS systems are hard to beat.....but the squat and roll are annoying to say the least.
The new body style looks cool, but was likely very low on everyone's list of requested improvements.
I don't really have a problem with the increased engine size. But quite honestly, I don't know that I really need more horses. I've never been interested in crossing the finish line ahead of the other guy. This isn't my type of riding. I've yet to come across a situation where my 2003 Prairie 650 didn't have far more than enough power. I'm certain though, that this issue is one where many people will differ.
My real issue with this machine is the lack of EFI. It seemed to me that this was easily the most requested improvement. I've been all over the net this morning and it seems that Kawasaki is indeed waiting until next year to indroduce EFI into the mix. I can't help but wonder..........with this information out there, how many Brute Force machines do they realistically expect to sell? My money isn't even slightly interested in this first year Force. I was all prepared to put my order in. I even had a smiling go-ahead from the wife. But I mean, why should I pony up the cash for a machine which might very well be somewhat obselete next year? Soon, very soon, all these types of ATV's will be EFI. Why the heck buy one which should have been....isn't, but will be next year.

I should add one thing. I do like the new front A-Arm suspension. I always saw those front struts like shiney new convertable with a duct tape top.

I'm with you wheelcow,I was anticipating the release of something special and was more than willing to pony up for the new model, having done so every year since the 650 was introduced. I agree with the dissapointing look of the brute force,it should have been called the "SHREK 750","big,powerful,butt-*** ugly!!

It isn't as ugly as a rincon.
It handles better than ALL other IRS machines. Quote: "Rageracer#1 is the only person I know of that has ridden the BF750...he used to race Grizzlies (in a checkered past ) and told me that the BF has the best stock suspension he has ever ridden.....including the tricked out Grizz. He said it didn't push like a run of the mill IRS quad, and it was very tunable for stock suspension."
It has the best engine in the industry.
Most power.
They kept the weight down to 604.
It has all the industry leading features like wet brakes, best front brakes, Dual a-arm, on the fly diff lock for true 4x4.
The humps on the fenders serve a purpose. The air vents are redesigned and those humps are part of it. so, I guess I can't really complain if it serves an important purpose.
How can you guys be disappointed? It is the best in the industry. It is just plain awesome.
I realize that not every aspect of it is perfect. I found something that the biggest whiners are gonna point out, but I feel that they had to do some things that they did to keep the weight down. The floor boards appear to be one piece. If you bust one chunk off the flap, you gotta get the whole floorboard (or use goop and plastic ties). But heck, that is no show stopper for me. Gimme that BF now!

I will admit I'm excited to ride one, I really hope that Rageracer#1 is right about the handling. It is a bit ugly in my opinion but then again so am I. If it delivers a sporty ride you can count me in.

Nice reply Kawaiguy. LMFAO!! I'm just real big on lasting first impressions. It might look better in the Kawi green. What's up with not offering that green as a color option, other than buying plastic from P.B.R. I agree Nyroc, the thing flat-out STOMPS the competition, but we can only be "attracted"to personality so much if ya catch my drift.
