Yeah you could drill holes in the lid BUT even with screens in them the box will fill with water if it ever goes under. I would do what I did with my DS650 and just take the lid off, re-jet it and carry your lid with you so if your going to get wet just slap the lid back on to keep the water out. It will run rich with the lid back on after re-jetting but its better than running lean or water in the motor.

Thats what I was talking about when I said "screens". You just drill holes in your lid and snap them in but dont count on them to keep out water.
