running lean ?

just came back from riding this 4th up in the mountains at about4 to 5000 feet. my fan seemed to run alot and when iwould let of gas when it start idle down it would start small poping out tailpipe thougt it might be lean, but all i have done is hmf slipon & knfilter 5 univents in air box 145 front148 rear. or could it be rich causing the poping and the fan running cause it was hot outside&was riding pretty hard ??????? oh ya 04 v700..??

Popping or backfireing on decell, is a lean idle circuit, and it will be in the exhaust.
The reason it runs hot, is because running at altitude cuts the horsepower, and you need alot more throttle, to get the same proformance at sea level.
Going up in altitude will definetly make it richer, but its possible to be too rich on main jet, and too lean on mixture screw and/ or pilot jet.
