Default long ride..................problems

I was riding my lakota yesterday for about 6 hours straight, besides stopping for gas and a 15 minute break. I was riding on muddy trails and dirt roads most of the time--full thorottle on roads. When i was done i let it sit about an hour......washed it off, and noticed that it was running a little sluggish. When i went to start it up today, it started then stalled(never has before). after 3 or 4 tries it started, but wont idle smoothly and cuts out alot. Anyone know whats wrong??

Default long ride..................problems

i forgot to add that my engine has been making a clicking sound for quite awile now. it gets real loud for a second or so if i hit the gas at low speed. i thought it might be the valves(not sure). if it is the valves, what will happen if i dont adjust them?

If the valve adjustments are off that much I would not recommend starting it at all. You might bend a valve, crack a piston or tear a lot of other stuff up.

While reading your initial post, I was thinking water got into something and that's why it's sluggish. I know when I wash my quads, I run them and then spray WD-40 on all the electrical areas among other things. BUt when you posted your second post, I thought of your valves and low oil level to begin with.

it sounds like the clicking sound is coming from someplace around where the clutch cover is. it dosnt make much noise when the engine is idling or once i start moving, but as soon as i give it some gas i notice a few loud clicks(then it gets quieter) ??????&?

Hopefully not the crank after all that extended wot operation. Maybe you're lucky and it's just the cam chain.

As they get wore out, they're known to click like that, eventually you will need to replace it but not right now I wouldnt think.
