Clutch Setup for VForce 785
#1
I just picked up my 785 VForce from Mickey Dunlap this Saturday and couldn't be happier. Mickey is truly a professional and takes great pride in his work. The work he did was meticulous and the attention to detail was impeccable. Thanks again Mickey. The motor could crawl through the tight rocky Pennsylvania woods or climb the largest hills I attempted.
Anyway, I was wondering what clutch/spring setups some of the 785/800 guys would recommend. My riding is primarily in the tight woods of PA (fast GNCC type riding), a good amount of hill climbing and an occasional GNCC race. I'm not looking for the most aggressive spring but something that would work with the 785 motor and still be ridable in the conditions I mentioned. Any thoughts?

The Dalton Orange / Blue is one of my favorites on my quad ( "special tuned 750 cc Prairie )... I like it with no shims, IMO, it has just the right amount of stall for woods riding... If I want stall, I use the Polaris yellow, or for more yet, the Polaris Brown...

Jim.
I'm the one with the V-force that met you on sunday with Chris at the Shenendoah hill climbs
I must say i was impressed with your v force.
It climbed the hills WAY easier than mine. (especially with my bald tires)
I ride that area all the time with mine and found using a spring with a stall can be tricky in tight woods and technical stuff especially on those long 100+ mile days
I BUT for climbing the hills that you and Chris were at you would like one with more stall.
I would try an Hpd plain with dalton weights 58 g and the OD cover.
changing the weights can lower the primary spring pressure and lower the stall a little. since yours has a different torque curve.
as for mine i MUST have the big bore 800cc kit ASAP.
I really was impressed with the way it climbed near vertical hills and STILL ACCELERATED.
now that i have the Elkas my vforce just feels slow.

Jim you need to trade that for my R!! You climbed so much better on my R and it seemed to fit you so well!~lol
I just knew that BB kit would be calling your name,, John!~lol
It was FUN to run the o'R Sunday! But I cant wait to jump back on the Prairie this Saturday! Someting just didnt feel right? Driving 6 hours to ride for 5?~lol. Looks like the weather man is saying some good things about this Saturday!! If the PaTrailBoss gets on here and reads this? We gotta break the group up from the start this weekend and plan on 150 MILES!! I need to make up for Sunday and I know Jim's amp-ed up and ready to ride that G-force all day as well.
IMO- Jim Your Quad needs nothing!! But Riding and Enjoying!
( oh and I do have a pink sping for you to try- Do a search on the fourm under Pink Spring plenty to read)
I must say Mickey did a VERY good job, The power was smooth and the V-force was super FUN to ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jimmy I agree with shotgun, I've had my 785 for almost a year and have tried the dalton blue, the
hpd plain and now I am using the dalton blue/orange with only one shim, the blue/orange is my favorite, along with the dalton clutch kit for the vforce

John and Chris,
I'd like to try the EPI pink spring (1/161) to see if it makes a bit of a difference on the top end. Even with the big bore, the clutching seems to wreak havoc on the top end and there is still a bit of that "flat spot". Now I just have to figure out how to install the spring.
