Default CDI for a Lakota

I have a 97 Lakota. It will not start and we took it to the shop. They said I needed a new CDI, 300.00. I found one on the internet for 151.00 and that ad suggested replacing the transformer rectifier also, 150.00. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks for any help.

It's just an unplug and plug in job. The socket ends are unique to the CDI so you literally can't make a mistake. You'll want to check ebay for even better deals on the CDI box. There's rectifiers and everything there, also check under the mojave listings as many many parts are interchangeable. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Unfortunately I purchased a new cdi and regulator. It wasn't too bad 260.00 out of Minnesota. I am checking to alternator stator next to make sure the alternator osn't burning up the regulator.
