Default 650 stalling

i am having a prob with my 650. what it is doing is after riding hard through the whoops it stalls like it is out of gas, removing the gas cap doesn't seem to help. it has to run a few minutes before you can give it any throttle or it will die. to me it sounds like a problem with the floats but in past experience bad float setting and rough road will cause flooding, not out of gas like this is acting. i did a search and only came up with the choke cable problem and it seems to have different symptoms. any ideas would be appreciated

my quad is an AC 650 but from what i can tell you guys have a little more experience with the 650 motor. posted in the ac forum too.if i should remove one of the posts let me know.

Have you pulled off your float bowls and inspected the floats yet? Thats the first thing I would do. Its also easy on a P650 but not sure about how the AC650 plastic is arranged.

haven't done any thing yet. i was hoping to get some insight from the forums on what others have found. i did find one person with the same prob. but he hasn't found any thing yet or didn't reply. his post is on atvnation. the guys on that forum said something about a switch thats cut fuel in case of a rollover, do know of this switch? my thoughts is the floats too but i don't know what to do about it, i would guess to raise the level to allow more reserve but this seems like a band-aid not a fix. it will just let me go farther in the whoops. i will dig in tomorrow after work if it's not too hot. living in the desert sucks some times.

I dont know if its any help but I have the entire carb section scanned from my service manual for the P650. Im not sure about the specs on the AC650 though. Things like the float setting may be different.

thanks. that is a pretty cool web site. i actually used it for adjusting my belt last week cause the ac manual sucks. they forgot to tell you where the shims are and how to get to them. so thanks for the great site also.

just got done checking the floats and they looked fine to me, set right at spec. didn't want to raise the level because the bike runs good other than the stalling, and if you ride like a sane person it doesn't stall. what fun is that though. i also found the tip over switch and don't think this is the prob either because it cuts ignition after a couple sec, not fuel like the older ford cars.

no not really. i did drain the float bowls when i checked the level and didn't find any there. didn't think of that be cause it only happens in the whoops.

Sounds like crud somewhere in the system that is going into suspension with all the jolts, ups and downs, then settles back when you sit for awhile. Just a wag... nothing in your tank or filter right? Vent hoses ok?
