Default P700 Front Drive Shaft

Has anybody pulled the front drive shaft on a P700? Is it as easy as the service manual makes it sound? I was thinking of pulling the shaft to enter the 2wd class on my next mud bog after I run the 4wd class. I know if I pull the shaft I need to find something to cover or plug the holes/boots. Any info on this would help? Thanks

couldn't you remove the fuse that controls the 4wd actuator?

The official at the track requires that he see's the shaft is removed. I guess they think your gonna cheat somehow. According to the service manual you do not need any tools. Just remove two rubber o-rings, slide the boot off the groove and remove shaft. Guess I'll have to try it. It would be nice to run in the 2wd class and show some of them what a P700 has in it.

I had mine out and back in, (just this weekend). It's got a spring the keeps it pushed ahead in a spline. roll the O ring back and then the boots back and pull the shaft back towards the motor.

Shouldn't take long, but it's a close fit, with no room to spare. I had all my plastic off and could get at it easily the two time I did it, wasn't exactly easy, room wise.

Im gonna have to take mine off soon. I have developed an oil leak in the front diff and at the engine output area. This P650 is starting to require unscheduled maintenance. Lucky for it I dont really mind doing it. Looks like there is an oil seal that will need replacing. I hope it pops out and a new one can be popped in.

Has anyone replaced oil seals from there drive shaft to front diff?
