Windshields and the Prairie
It seems to me that windsheild will deflect the cold, but it also seems like it would really be in the way if you want to shift your weight forward while traversing steep or bumpy terrain......
Hand guard and a faceshield are all we use while riding the winters in Nevada.....granted it only get to about zero with wind chill......

CWG... my buddy swears by his... he takes it off during the summer, but uses it all the time for plowing, & left it on, when a bunch of us went winter trail riding, in Wisconsin, 2 winters ago... we were 30 miles out, & it began sleeting... he was the only one dry, when we got back to the motel... I'm personally happy with my Moose handgaurds, but it was a pain to keep my goggles clear, on the previous mentioned ride, & the turbulence from the windshield, kept my buddys goggles clear...
