check for a plug in the fuel vent line,,it sounds like a fuel starvation issue..vent line would be the first thing I would check

yeah what he said. With the 400 it is vented through the hose in the gas cap. when it starts to do it just open the cap and see if it helps. Also check your air filter for mice nest and such. My brothers 400 had 2 handfulls of dog food in the airbox dont have a clue how they got it there but it was there. The plugs are nice to have for winch, lights, plow ect.

Default prairie 400 trouble

Good to see more smaller prairies around here. My bike had done and is now doing the EXACT same thing. The first time the dealership found a bad connection at the "alternator" or whatever they are on these things. It would provide a charge at idle and when driving slow, but when running wide open it would vibrate loose and the bike would starve for power and sputter. They fixed the connection and two years now its been good, but now the same problem is back and I dont know where they fixed it at......Its still under warranty and this time im going to make them tell me where it is.

P.S. is your battery feeling week these days? Thats another symptom of that problem, just barely enough juice to start it.

My P400 did the same thing last week, but it would stay running with the choke on. I took the shutoff valve off the tank and cleaned the two screen filters. They were full of sludge. I presume the gas was old and stale from not riding enough. Works good now. Hope this helps. Norm.........
